“In 2015 Calderdale Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) set out an ambition to provide “Care Closer to Home”. It was recognised that in order to do this we needed to promote the services offered by the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector (VCSE). This was the perfect opportunity for the CCG and Voluntary Action Calderdale (VAC) to work in partnership to develop a quality assurance system which would allow VCSE organisations to evidence the quality of the work offered to health. The CCGs aim was to provide referring GPs with some assurance that the services they might refer a patient to was safe, effective caring, responsive and well led.
The success of the programme is evident from the number of organisations outside of Calderdale who have commissioned the programme, as well as the number of Calderdale VCSE organisations who are registered or have completed the accreditation.”
Louise Burrows, Quality Manager, Calderdale Clinical Commissioning Group
Quality For Health is a quality assurance system for groups and organisations delivering health and wellbeing services in a marketplace that is increasingly reliant on providers being able to evidence the delivery of high quality outcomes.
Originally developed in partnership with Calderdale Clinical Commissioning Group, Quality For Health was set up to support the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector to demonstrate the quality of their services. Since then, the award has continued to develop and expand and is now being used across a variety of sectors and locations in the UK to provide assurance to service users, funders and referrers that services are of the highest quality.
Quality for Health has three levels designed to support organisations – from small community based groups to larger established organisations. The system addresses the three pillars of quality identified in the NHS Five Year forward view and the five key questions posed by the Care Quality Commission.
